GLSS Preps for Another Weekend Double-Header
Lake Odessa, MI (Thursday, June 3, 2021) - It's back to racing for the Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by Engine Pro and ARP (GLSS) with a double-header weekend of racing action. This weekend marks the third straight week of racing for GLSS but is also the final event before a three-week break in the schedule for the month of June. On tap for the weekend are a pair of historically Sprint Car friendly race tracks within a two-hour drive of each other.
On Friday, GLSS will unload in Lake Odessa, Michigan at I-96 Speedway. The 3/8ths mile oval has played host to some of the most entertaining GLSS races in history, with massive slide jobs and multiple grooves of racing. In their last visit to I-96, GLSS was pitted against the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series drivers back on May 8th. During the event, GLSS favorites struggled to find speed among the nationally recognized talent in attendance. Perhaps the most impressive performance by the GLSS regulars was that of Max Stambaugh who came from the Last Chance Qualifier, advanced 10 positions in the feature and finished 9th.
Prior to the May 8th race, GLSS opened their season at I-96 on April 16th. Now Championship Points leader, Ryan Ruhl advanced eight spots en route to his first win of the season during that event. Former Champ Jared Horstman finished second ahead of 2020 season finale winner, Ricky Peterson.
On Saturday, the excitement of GLSS packs up and heads southeast to the Butler Battlegrounds at Butler Motor Speedway. The 3/8ths high banked oval is a host to weekly Sprint Car racing, and welcomes in GLSS for what is sure to be a full evening of racing. Last season, the hometown favorite, Ruhl grabbed the win after going around Phil Gressman on the outside of the race track. With new clay and a slightly reconfigured race track, Butler has seen multiple grooves of racing this season.
Grandstand gates on Friday at I-96 Speedway open at 5:00 PM with racing at 8:00 PM. Then on Saturday, Butler opens their gates at 4:00 PM and racing starts at 7:30 PM.
