STAMBAUGH GETS DOUBLE CHECKERS

Crystal, MI – Max Stambaugh (Elida, OH) won Friday and then gets the win Saturday night at Crystal Motor Speedway and the Great Lakes Super Sprints presented by Engine Pro & ARP Points Championship lead, edging Ryan Ruhl (Coldwater, MI) out by 19 points.

Getting a late start with a well watered track, Stambaugh didn’t fair well as one of the first qualifiers on the track, qualifying 7th over all. Gregg Dalman (Bellevue, MI) set fast time with a 13.029 second lap or an average speed of 103.61 mph. Phil Gressman (Fremont, OH) was second quick at 103.16 mph and Dustin Daggett (Portland, MI) was third quick at 103.03. Brad Lamberson (Parma, MI) and Ryan Ruhl (Coldwater, MI) rounded out the top 5.

In the Engler Machine & Tool Heat race one, Stambaugh dominated the field and took the heat win with Chase Ridenour (Perry, MI) and Lamberson followed in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Dalman and Kyle Poortenga (Woodland, MI) rounded out the top 5.

Danny Sams III (Northport, FL) led all 8 laps in the PErfit Heat Race two. Gressman grabbed second and the other redraw spot, while Ruhl, Jay Steinbach (Hudsonville, MI) and Mike Astrauskas (Pierson, MI) rounded out the top 5.

The Beacon & Bridge Markets Heat 3 was won by Daggett who took the checkered flag 3.45 seconds ahead of second place finisher Frank Neill (Vickory, OH). Mike Keegan (Fremont, OH), Linden Jones (Edwardsville, MI) and Chris Pobanz (Sebewang, MI) rounded out the top five finishers.

As the green flag dropped in the Engine Pro A-Main Feature, Daggett had the lead and he protected that lead for 17 laps, when Stambaugh got around him to take the lead. Stambaugh only had 7 laps to go and he wouldn’t relinquish the lead until he took the checkered flag. Daggett held on for second and Gressman came in 3rd, with Ruhl and Dalman rounded out the top five cars.
